The XJS coupé had been on the market for a full 13 years when Jaguar finally started making a convertible variant. This very well kept specimen was built in 1989 and delivered to Andorra when new. A few years later it became part of a private collection there and only found its way to Germany in 2016, so the number of previous owners totals three. It is the pre-facelift version with the distinctive rear, and it comes in the forever-elegant colour combination of white paint with burgundy leather interior. Due to its history, rust is not an issue with this Jag, and the regular servicing ensured that the mighty 5.3 litre 12-cylinder engine runs as smooth as anyone can wish for. The XJS has valid technical approval until 02/2018.
The electrically operated black convertible top is in great shape and devoid of damage, it opens and closes flawlessly. Chrome parts and alloys are likewise in good condition, as is most of the leather interior and burlwood trim, apart from minute cracks on the centre console and traces of a removed fixture on the centre armrest.
With heated seats, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control and an automatic transmission, the Jaguar has all you need for relaxed cruising in the incomparable atmosphere of a truly classic British convertible.

With “Cylinders: V12”, it beat them all, or almost. A winning type therefore – despite being eyed with rather a lot of suspicion at its presentation – hardly surprising, after all, being the heir to an undisputed cult object such as the Jaguar E-Type is certainly no easy game to play.

And yet it has managed, in its very own way. Precisely by being different: Massive, dignified, courageous, athletic only at second glance – a bit quirky even, a car for individualists. And they honored it, kept buying the distinctive upper-class coupe for over two decades. During this period, the modifications took place almost exclusively underneath the sheets: Never change a winning, er, cat. The real convertible variant only became available in 1988.

Even with the straight 6 engines, the big cat was far from underpowered, and owing to its innovative chassis, sports car connoisseurs can still feel like winners today.
