There wasn’t a time in automotive history when ownership of a Mercedes Coupé would not be understood as a clear status symbol – and every single model over time became a sought-after classic. The W 124 coupé may still be in the early stages of this process, however, prices are beginning to climb, so the purchase of this car can be seen as a worthwhile long-term investment – even more so, as the W 124 in general, and the 6-cylinder engines in particular are known to be extremely reliable and capable of covering very high mileages without difficulty.
This E 320 coupé was built in 1994 – which means it is a so-called “Mopf 2”, a model after the 2nd facelift, and it has always been registered in Germany. It has the 3.2 litre 6-cylinder engine installed, which produces 162 kW (220 hp) of power and is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The feature list of this car includes dual airbags, air conditioning, a steel sunroof, power windows front and rear, heated driver’s seat and headlamp wipers. The original cassette radio is still installed. Apart from cracks in the centre console, the interior is in a good state of preservation. On the outside, a larger scratch and dent on the right-hand side slightly tarnishes the overall good impression. The air flow sensor is presumably out of order.
The E 320 has German registration documents and comes with valid technical approval until 09/2017. All in all, this is an attractively priced future classic.
