This beautiful MG TD roadster in its British racing green paintwork is a 1953 vintage which was originally delivered to the US and has recently been imported into Germany. The previous owner has registered the car as a historic vehicle in 2015. Some time ago, the roadster must have been partially restored. The paint is by and large still in good condition, even if it is beginning to tear at some of the edges. All chrome parts are complete and in good shape. The MG has been used in classic car rallyes by the previous owner, so numerous stickers are attached, giving the vehicle the appearance of a 1950s racing car.
On the inside, the leather interior has at one point been dyed black, its original red colour is beginning to shine through again. The burlwood dashboard – so typical in its curved shape – is devoid of cracks and in fine condition. The 1.3 litre inline four-cylinder engine starts up, runs very smooth and sounds great, too – not least owing to a stainless steel exhaust pipe.
The MG comes with two additional high-beam headlights, a boot-mounted spare wheel and tarpaulin, but no side screens or canopy top.
A recent Classic Data appraisal values the condition 3+ vehicle at € 28,900. The MG has historic plates and valid technical approval until 10/2017.
Due to the popularity of this car, plenty of replicas were built after production of the original T series ended in 1955.
