The Jeep Wrangler is an off-road vehicle from the American manufacturer Jeep of the Chrysler Group. Its history as Willys MB began in 1941 with the American army. The manufacturer Willys-Overland designed the robust and versatile general purpose vehicle (GP) on behalf of the US government. The brand name “Jeep” was created from the first letters of the vehicle category “GP”. In 1945, the first “Jeep Civil” appeared on the public market as the Jeep CJ, creating a new category. The CJ’s direct successor, the Jeep Wrangler YJ of the mid-1980s, was similar to the CJ but had square headlights and a lower center of gravity. Improved stability made it possible to significantly reduce rolling in corners. The rudimentary controls in the interior and the painted dashboard were replaced with a modern dashboard. The Wrangler was initially available with two engines. A 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine or a 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 4.2 liter engine was replaced in 1991 by a 4.0 liter engine with 135 kW (184 hp) with injection. In 1997 the Wrangler TJ was presented as a successor. The Jeeps in the film “Jurassic Park” are the 1992 Wrangler Sahara model. The Jeep Wrangler is a brand icon, a symbol of freedom and passion for off-road terrain.
