The L 319 was presented at the IAA in September 1955 as a “fast truck” below the 7. 5-ton class and established the “Transporter” tradition at Mercedes. The L319 was available ex works in four different body variants: panel van, platform van, low loader and as chassis for special bodies. The Mercedes-Benz L319 presented here was originally used as a fire fighting vehicle in a Dutch steel mill. During its 30 years of service it ran 6000 KM only. Thanks to a constant maintenance the vehicle was in excellent condition. This convinced a private person to convert this fire engine into a camper.
The conversion was carried out by a certified Mercedes partner company. L319 specimens have become rare, but if they are well maintained and in good condition, they are worth a small fortune.
For aficionados, the financial value is less important than the emotions aroused by this vintage camper:
A great driving experience combined with an interesting history and a unique lifestyle.
