Devin Enterprises Inc., operated in El Monte, California, in the 1950s and 1960s.
Bill Devin, surnamed “The Enzo Ferrari of the Okie Flats” was the founder of Devin Enterprises. He built a car that had the style, sophistication and performance of a Ferrari.
In 1957, Devin teamed up with Noel Hillis and Malcolm MacGregor, two racers from Northern Ireland. The two developed a tubular frame, a state-of-the-art chassis with a 90-inch wheelbase, disc brakes and independent suspension. All the car still needed was a body that could compete with the then Le Mans racing cars. Bill Devin styled the body, similar to a Ferrari 750, and the result was the Devin SS (Super Sport).
The Devins competed successfully in the SSCA (Sports Car Club of America) racing series against Ferraris, Listers and Maseratis. The 1956 national SCCA champion was a Devin, competing in 136 SCCA races between 1955 and 1963, winning 32 first, 8 second and 3 third places.
