The Horch 830 GL on offer was extensively restored around 18 years ago. Original parts were used wherever possible. The vehicle received its registration certificate in June 2006. The current owner only used the 830 BL for historic drives and special classic car meetings with a 07 license plate. The Horch has clocked up a total mileage of approximately 2,000 km in recent years. Otherwise, it spent most of its time as part of a vehicle collection in a suitable air-conditioned room.
The Horch 830 is a luxury car with an eight-cylinder V-engine and rear-wheel drive, which was presented by the Horch brand, part of Auto Union, at the 23rd International Automobile and Motorcycle Exhibition (IAMA) in Berlin in February 1933 as the successor to the Type 430 (Horch 8). The first vehicles were delivered in the fall of 1933. The Type 830 was one of the first Horchs to be built under the four rings of Auto Union. The models with a long (3.35 m) wheelbase were still called 830 BL and were available as a Pullman limousine, a four-door (Pullman) convertible, and a six-seater touring car. In 1938, the Horch V8 model 830 BL was equipped with a larger 3.8-liter engine with 92 hp (68 kW), a “fully synchronized” ZF four-speed transmission (including 1st gear), and a standard highway “overdrive” that was activated with an additional shift lever.
