“Wow, my dad (uncle / father-in-law / granddad / best friend’s parents) used to have one of those!”
Its copper metallic paint (Audi colour code L95F) gives it away: This Audi 100 GL 5S is clearly a child of its time, which in this case means the late 1970s. Built in 1978 and in one ownership right until 2014, this large 2nd generation Audi 100 sedan has been lovingly maintained over the years. The overall impression is strikingly good. Outside, the paintjob is near-perfect, even the bumpers display only the slightest parking scratches. On the inside, it is much the same: very few traces of use on the red-brown velours interior, which exudes 1970s cuddly-coziness at its very best. The contemporary Blaupunkt radio is on board. It is safe to assume it would have played Boney M’s “Rivers of Babylon” when new… The features’ list also includes a sunroof, headlight washers, fog lights and chromed hub caps.
Under the bonnet, there’s a particularly nice example of “Vorsprung durch Technik”: the robust and reliable inline 5-cylinder engine with 2.2 litres of capacity with its typical, healthy sound.
The Audi’s last holder was the well-known comedian Urban Priol who bought this car from its original owner in 2014 and piloted it at the 2015 “Weinfranken Klassik”. The 100 comes with valid technical approval until 05/2016 and historic vehicle registration documents.
A 1970s family sedan in beautiful condition, which will bring back fond memories (pun unavoidable…) in many people.
