A real collector’s car in a fantastic condition

The predecessor of the Renault R15, the Floride was built from early 1959 to mid-1968 as a 2+2-seater cabriolet and as a 2+2-seater coupé (“sports sedan”).
The design of the body came from Pietro Frua and was manufactured by Société des Usines Chausson. With a water-cooled four-cylinder in-line engine and rear-wheel drive based on the Dauphine model, the vehicle was sold on the US American and European markets.
Originally “baptized” as the Renault Caravelle, the car became known in Europe under the name Floride, which was also renamed Caravelle after 4 years.
However, due to delivery problems, American buyers had to wait a long time for their car.
The first engine had an output of 34 hp and an average consumption of 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers. Amédée Gordini revised the engine in 1960 so that it had 40 hp.
Finally, in 1962, the new 47hp engine from the R8 was installed in the Floride.
Production ceased in July 1968.
